June 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Hi everyone. It’s official – the 2nd Annual School Supply Giveaway has been scheduled!
August 14, 2010 from 8-10am @ The Word Center on 6th & Oak in Downtown Frisco

Many more details will be coming throughout the summer, but we wanted to go ahead and get all of this info out to everyone. The “Next Event” page of our website has been updated with this event’s overview and needed donations. We’ve also created a PDF with lots on info and a small shopping list (see it here).

Please feel free to call or email if you’d like more info. Mark the calendars, spread the word – this year is promising to be greater than the first. Be blessed!

Last Orientation

December 8, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

I think it’s close enough now to say – Merry Christmas everyone!

Tonight is the last orientation we are offering for The Joy of Christmas. Things are progressing quite well for our first year. Tonight, we will organize toys and introduce any new volunteers to the facility and our process.

We hope to see everyone tonight at 7pm at The Word Center.

Be blessed and have a great day!

P.S. –> 3 days to go :)

So Close – Updated & Upcoming

November 23, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

As far as The Joy of Christmas goes, here is an upcoming list of dates and times for everyone’s reference:

Saturday, December 5th – Orientation
We are asking that as many volunteers as possible attend this Saturday morning orientation. At 9am, we will take a few moments to share about the event and get everyone acclimated to the venue and procedures. At 10am, we will all go out into the target neighborhoods and hand out flyers advertising the event.

Tuesday, December 8th – Make-Up Orientation
If you cannot attend Saturday morning’s orientation, please try to attend this meeting at 7pm.

Wednesday thru Friday – Work Days (as needed)
All food, toys and clothes will be sorted on these nights. They will be on a as-needed basis so we’ll be putting more info online and in our emails about this.

Saturday, December 12th – THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS
All volunteers must arrive by 7am on this morning. Check-in begins for the families at 7:30 so we’ve got to be ready to go. The event is scheduled to end around 10:30am.

Please let us know if you’d like to volunteer or donate. Also, feel free to ask any questions.

Give Toys – Save Big

November 14, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Hi everyone. This starts our official event countdown – 4 weeks until The Joy of Christmas!

A couple of our restaurant drop-off points are offering discounts when you bring something to donate. Our site will detail those offers as we get more information.

We’d like everyone to know that we are in desperate need of 8-12 year old toys, items for teenage boys and canned goods and non-perishable food.

While we’re still working on the planning of the event, we have had a great response from the school community. Volunteers have been offered and we are working diligently to assign places and set dates for organization and sorting.

We’ll be posting information more frequently as the weeks go by. Here’s to a great weekend!

Boxes Are Out and We Are On Our Way

November 5, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Thanks to everyone for making the planning part of this event more simple than I anticipated!

Throughout today and tomorrow, we will be placing the toy drop-off boxes out at our locations. I will update a list of locations as soon as we get it all set. The boxes will stay out until December 7th. We will post updates along the way. I can say that corporate response has been lacking – there are no businesses currently sponsoring our event. So, if you’d like to donate toys or food or time, please let us know and we’ll be glad to get anyone involved.

Lastly, be in prayer about the event. We desire to bless the community and be blessed by their response. We’re trusting in the Lord to provide and we shall not be disappointed.

Have a great day everyone! We’ll post more soon :)

Weekly Update – October 26th

October 26, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Hi everybody. Hope you’re enjoying the last week of October.

Brandon and I have been working to get more community involvement for The Joy of Christmas, but we’re going to need everyone’s help. We’ve secured a few more toy drop-off points in town, plus we’ve got some contacts at Stonebriar Centre that might work really well! We are very excited about how this event is coming together. In addition to toy drop-off points, now is the time to push for donations.

Our box-making event that was originally scheduled for tomorrow night has been canceled. We are waiting on a few more donations before we start our boxes. However, we will have them ready by next week, when they will be dropped off at our stores.

Feel free to give us a call with any questions or ideas. We will have flyers available early next week.

Be blessed and be a blessing.

Simple Weekly Update

October 13, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Welcome again to the Frisco Reach Out blog!

There are no events this week, but we wanted to remind everyone to subscribe to our email newsletter by going to our homepage, www.friscoreachout.com, and signing up for eNews and Updates. This is the best way to stay in touch with us. In the coming weeks, we will be creating our toy drop-off boxes and placing them at restaurants and businesses throughout town. It is our belief that helping Frisco requires community involvement. We’d love to have you, your family and your church or business on board.

Here’s to a great week! There’ll be more info next Monday. God bless.

First Day of Donations

October 5, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

There’s not much going on this week yet. Last week’s task force meeting was quite productive though. Here is an update!

  • DONATIONS BEGIN TODAY

Today, October 5th, is the official start of our Christmas season. While our families are definitely not ready for such holiday cheer, the church and Frisco Reach Out have already begun planning our first ever Christmas event. We begin accepting donations (like food, toys and seasonal items) today. Our boxes will be available at stores throughout the community by November 4th, but until then, we are offering limited pickup or delivery. Please give us a call if you or your family or company are ready to begin giving.

  • TIME TO SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER

We have several meetings before the actual Joy of Christmas event. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering for any of the event or work days.

  • PUSH FOR DONATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY

We have had a difficult time finding a corporate “liaison.” While we know that the Lord is fully able, we also know that we want to get the neighboring community and the businesses of Frisco involved in giving for this event. We are looking for individuals and teams who are willing to work with, approach or contact some of the local corporate  businesses for cash and non-cash donations.

In the coming days, we will be printing flyers and meeting with other churches in town. We are proud to be doing so well – proud to be planning ahead and finding other people who are interested in this ministry. Please remember to sign-up for email alerts and to let others know how to join in. Have a great week and God bless!
